Heart and stroke risk tools may need MS-specific validation
MS Society UK · published 2026-06-03 · approved by our editors 9/7/2026
Researchers examining English health records found that commonly used cardiovascular risk calculators often underestimated risk in people with MS. The findings support further work on tools tailored to MS. They do not provide an individual risk estimate or establish a new clinical calculator.
What this means
The study assessed existing risk calculators using health records. A finding about group-level prediction does not calculate a reader’s personal risk.
